Tottenham v Man City 19:45
Man City seem to be having a bit of a moment at present and it goes without saying they will be fuming after throwing away a 2-0 lead at home to bitter rivals – Man Utd – last weekend.
Why? Well, as we all know, City only need 3 more points to land the 2017/18 Premier League title but with 6 matches remaining it would be one of the biggest sporting shocks of all time if they failed to get the job done – even three draws would be good enough!
They are still 13 points ahead of second-placed United but after conceding a lot of goals in recent games then an away trip against Spurs at Wembley next is not really ideal!
Fourth-placed Spurs are in their own ‘top four’ battle with Liverpool and Chelsea so are also in need of points, but the Londoners do come into this weekend with a 10 point lead over Chelsea, who are back in fifth.
This is a rare 19:45 Saturday night kick-off but with the game at Wembley it’s sure to be a massive occasion and this will surely give City a further lift and incentive to try and win the title at England’s showcase footballing venue.
The match betting is as tight a game as you’ll see, with Spurs just edging it at 2.50, with the Draw 3.50 and City 2.62.
What are the stats saying? The sides played earlier this season, with that finishing City 4-1 Spurs but the Londoners will know this repeat fixture last term ended in their favour with a 2-0 home victory – a repeat of that score can be backed at 17.00.
With just one DRAW in the last 14 head-to-heads then we generally get a result one way, or another, while it’s also worth noting Spurs have lost just one of their last five against City. If you think they can keep up their good record over the Manchester side then the 1.50 (odds are subject to change) in the Double Chance market (Spurs/Draw) might appeal.
Can we expect goals? Based on recent games in general that these sides have played in, plus their head-to-head record then really, it’s hard not seeing plenty of goals here.
Harry Kane is back scoring and with 25 league goals then he is of course going to be a threat. Add the many City scoring threats like Sane, Sterling and Aguero, who has netted 21 league goals this term, then if this ends 0-0 it will be a huge shock.
Really, both sides have little to lose in going for the win. Spurs have a 10 point cushion over Chelsea but will know a win here will almost guarantee them a top four place, while City’s incentive needs no introduction – they can win the league title with 3 points!
Both teams have scored in 6 of the last 8 head-to-heads so at 1.50 this appeals but with 11 of the last 13 clashes seeing OVER 2.5 GOALS then even at 1.60 there seems to be some value here for me – after all this bet has paid out in 85% of recent clashes.
If you are feeling a bit braver then if you add another goal to the bet – Over 3.5 Goals at 2.50 gives us almost an extra point.
Best Bets: OVER 2.5 GOALS @ 1.60
