With the domestic league action over around Europe the focus switches to the International competitions and this week we see the two Nations League Semi-Finals and then the Final on Sunday.
First up is Holland vs Croatia this Wednesday at the De Kuip Stadium, in Holland where Feyenoord play their homes games.
The European sides have met just twice in the past with the honors even – one win each.
However, the last of those clashes came back in 2008 in a Friendly and so there is not a lot of history to go on it you like your stats, barring both meetings going OVER 2.5 GOALS – this can be backed at 6/5.
The FIFA World Rankings see Holland in 6th and Croatia in 7th – so just a place between the two and the match betting reflects a fairly tight game despite Holland the favourites at 19/20, with the Draw 12/5 and Croatia at 13/5.
Going back to the goals markets, it’s interesting that ALL of Holland’s last four games saw 3+ goals scored, while the Dutch have lost just one of their last 22 games, which was a 4-0 thumping by France 2 matches ago in a Euro qualifying match.
Croatia also come into the game with a decent record at the moment – they’ve tasted defeat only once in their last 15 matches, but it’s also worth pointing out 4 of their last 7 games ended in draws.
Team news is always important with the scoring markets but Croatia’s Ivan Perisic and Luka Modric (Yes, he’s still not retired!)– who have over 260 caps between them and 50 goals – are two players to have on your radar.
Perisic is on offer at 10/1 (1st) or 15/4 (anytime), with Modric on the table at 14/1 (1st) or 11/2 (anytime).
Looking at the Dutch players, Georgino Winjaldum, who plays his club football with Roma has netted 26 times for his country and is 15/2 first or 11/4 anytime. While Gakpo, Bergwijn, Weghorst and Simons are other Dutch players to respect – they are all 13/2 (1st) or 12/5 (anytime).
Overall, we can expect a tight game so the DRAW at 12/5 looks fair value in a game were there is only one place separating the sides in the FIFA World Rankings.
BEST BET: DRAW @ 12/5
