Liverpool v Tottenham – Premier League Betting Guide: 4th Feb 2018

Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur 16:30

We’ve a fair few important games in the Premier League this weekend as we lock ourselves in for week 26 in the English top-flight.

However, the game of the weekend has got to be Liverpool’s home encounter with Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

The teams played in October at Wembley and with Spurs taking all three points in that one with a 4-1 victory then the Londoners will head into the game very hopeful of getting something out of the game and even doing the league double over the Reds.

Spurs’ England hitman – Harry Kane- scored a brace that day, with Son and Alli getting the other goals, while one of Liverpool’s main scoring men – Mo Salah – grabbed their only goal of the game.

These four players, along with Liverpool’s Firmino, will be popular in the scoring markets again and it will be a shock if one of them it’s finding the back of the net.

If we look at the match betting then it’s Liverpool  that that bookmakers have as their clear favourites here at 1.95, with the draw or Spurs both available at 3.60.

A fascinating contest in prospect – mainly as both sides have had a few hiccups in recent weeks. Spurs were held to lowly Newport in the cup, while Liverpool were dumped out of the same competition at home against West Brom.

The are also both very much in the race for one of the much sought-after top four places and with City, Chelsea and Man Utd all looking likely to fill three of them then that will leave Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal to fight it out between them for the remaining place.

Yes, Liverpool lost 4-1 to Spurs earlier this season, but the Merseysiders will also know that this repeat fixture ended 2-0 last season. If you fancy that score line again you’ll be rewarded at 12.00.

Liverpool will also come into this game having lost just one of their last 11 against Spurs, plus the Reds haven’t lost at home in the league in their last six over them.

The home side here have also managed to find the back of the net in 11 of their last 12 against Spurs so there is every chance the visitors here are going to find it hard to keep a clean sheet – backed-up with Spurs not conceding on offer at 5.00.

Having said that, we’d certainly not put you off backing a draw here. 50% of the last 6 head-to-heads have ended with the teams sharing the spoils, so with that in-mind the 3.60 on offer on the draw looks fair value.

Will it be a goal-fest? Okay, we witnessed 5 goals the last time these teams met, but if the recent stats are anything to go by these are generally close encounters.

4 of the last 5 match-ups have seen UNDER 2.5 GOALS, so it’s a bit of a shock to see this option as the second favourite in this market at 2.25 – with Over 2.5 goals 1.61.

However, the main pick here is for BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE at 1.61. We’ve already mentioned that Liverpool have scored in 11 of their last 12 vs Tottenham, so it’s highly-likley the Merseysiders will find the net at least once. Plus, couple that with the firepower that Spurs have with Kane, Son and Alli then it will also be a bit of a surprise if the away side don’t have many chances too.

With Spurs just behind Liverpool in the table then they will also need to get something from this game if they want to keep their chance of finishing in the top four alive. It’s also clear that Liverpool have a few issues in defence and in goal at the moment with a lot of leaked goals – most notably three here against West Brom last Saturday in the cup. Before their midweek game over Huddersfield, Liverpool have conceded 10 goals in 6 games which gives us further hope that Spurs will also be able to chip in with their side of the both teams to score bet.

Best Bet: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE 1.61
