Yeovil Town v Manchester United 19:55, BBC
Yeovil Town’s bank manager will be a happy man after they got drawn against Man Utd in the next round of the FA Cup – a game that takes place this Friday.
The Red Devils have won the FA Cup 12 times, but with Arsenal, who are out of this season’s competitions, on 13 – then United will be keen to get back to the top (albeit joint) of the FA Cup hall of fame.
United are currently priced at 5.50 (second favourites behind Man City) in the FA Cup outright betting market, but we can expect that price to vanish after this game and in what looks a straight-forward task for the Manchester side.
Yeovil, are way back in 21st place in League Two so there is a huge gulf between the sides, but you never know in the cup and often the form book can go out the window. Yeovil will also know that Derby County did will in the last round against United and it was only two late goals that saw United progress into round four.
It goes without saying, home advantage will give Yeovil an extra boost and the big names of United won’t be used to coming to a small ground like Huish Park. That said it will still be a brave punter that sides with Yeovil – even at 17.00 in the match betting – really they should be double that price! The same applies to the draw at 7.00, but at 1.16 United are also no value too.
You’ll be mad to lump on United at the that price, but the bookmakers can expect United to figure in many weekend accumulators with this being a Friday night clash.
The two teams have actually played three times in the FA Cup before – but it’s no real surprise that United have won them all. The most recent of those was in 2015 in a game also played at Huish Park and that finished Yeovil 0-2 Man Utd.
Also, in those three previous meetings, Yeovil failed to even score, with United winning ‘to nil’ in them all.
Therefore, taking that into account the 1.61 on the Red Devils no letting a goal will certainly appeal to punters, but this increases to 1.72 if United also win the game – win to nil.
United also come into the match having not lost in their last 7 games, and have not conceded in their last five matches either. If you are thinking of taking on this bet then the fact Yeovil have scored in their last 8 games (all comps), will give you confidence, playing United will be a much sterner test.
Under 2.5 goals at 2.70 in another potential bet of interest with 3 of Yeovil’s last 4 games going this way, while 4 of United’s last 5 games also produced less than 3 goals.
Francis Zoko, with 9 league goals, is Yeovil’s main scorer this season and with 11 Premier League goals United’s Romelu Lukaku heads their lists.
So, typical FA Cup clash and a potential banana skin for United, but class should come through in the end and with United not letting many goals in at present then we’ll stick with our theory that they can win this game – like they have a lot of matches recently – without conceding.
BEST BET BET: MAN UTD WIN ‘TO NIL’ @1.72
