  • 6 of the last 16 head-to-heads (all comps) ended 1-1

  • Alex-Arnold (Liverpool) has scored in the last 2 head-to-heads

We are only two weeks into the new Premier League season but already we’ve one of the highlights as the current champions – Liverpool travel to Chelsea.

Both sides made winning starts to their league campaigns with Liverpool seeing off Leeds in a 4-3 thriller, while Chelsea got the better of Brighton 3-1.

Last season’s repeat fixture ended Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool, but with Blues boss, Frank Lampard splashing the cash over the summer then you feel he’s got a much better squad to take the champions on with this season. Liverpool have, however, lost just two of the last six repeat fixtures.

The match betting reflects this too, with Liverpool still the favourites at 2.10, with the draw 3.60, but Chelsea are 3.25 and would have been a lot bigger than that last term.

These clashes have generally done two things as well – firstly, they’ve tended to be low-scoring as 7 of the last 10 clashes went UNDER 2.5 GOALS, and secondly Both Teams have scored – this has happened in 10 of the last 12 league head-to-heads and in 8 of the last 9 repeat league meetings.

Under 2.5 goals is on offer at 2.30, while both teams to score is 1.53.

Liverpool’s Mo Salah was on target several times in their opening game against Leeds and will be popular again at 5.00 (1st) or 2.05 (anytime) in the scoring markets, but Firmino might be the man to have on your radar. The Liverpool man has done well in this fixture in recent years – scoring in the last two league games, while Alex Arnold has also scored in the last two – he’s on offer at 23.00 (1st) or 8.50 (anytime).

Looking at the Chelsea players, one of their new signings – Timo Werner – is their shortest-priced player in the scoring markets at 5.50 (1st) or 2.20 (anytime).

Finally, with 6 of the last 16 meetings ending 1-1 (38%) then this is a scoreline to certainly have on your radar – this can be backed at 7.50.

Overall, it looks a fascinating clash and with both sides scoring 3+ goals in their opening league games then it will be interesting to see how each defence copes too.

It’s a hard game to call, but the safe option looks to be both teams to score at 1.53.

BEST BET: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @1.53
