Tottenham Hotspur v Everton 17:30, BT Sport
A decent Saturday 5:30pm game to look forward to this weekend as Everton make the trip to Wembley to face Spurs for week 23 in the Premier League.
With the race for a top four place hotting-up then Spurs, who sit in fifth at the start of this weekend, can’t really afford to drop many more points.
They face an Everton side that had turned things around since boss Sam Allardyce took charge. Having said that, the Toffeemen haven’t now won in their four in the league – drawing 2 and losing 2.
They remain in ninth at the start of this weekend though, but any more slip-up and with just 27 points they could easily find themselves getting dragged back into a relegation fight.
The match betting suggests that Spurs will maintain their top four challenge with all three points here as the Londoners are as short as 1.25, with the draw 6.00 and Everton as big as 10.00.
The sides met earlier in the season too with Spurs winning that one 0-3 away at Goodison, while this repeat fixture last season also went to Spurs with a 3-2 victory.
In fact, Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 10 vs Everton (home and away) and also haven’t lost in the last 8 repeat fixtures against the Merseysiders.
Having said that, with 5 of the last 10 head-to-heads (50%)) ending all-square then the 6.00 on offer on a stalemate does catch the eye.
Harry Kane, with 18 league goals, is sure to be popular in the scoring markets, but won’t be any value at all. Everton’s Wayne Rooney has fired in 10 league goals so can be considered for the visitors, but it’s worth noting that the Merseysiders have scored just one league goal in their last 4 games.
Both teams have scored in 3 of the last 4 head-to-heads so the 2.25 on this happening again makes a certain amount of appeal, but the call here is for UNDER 2.5 GOALS.
6 of Everton’s last 8 league games saw less than 3 goals scored, while 6 of the last 9 head-to-heads between the sides also went Under 2.5 Goals. With this in mind, and the fact Everton are having a few issues scoring at the moment, then the 2.07 on less than 3 goals in the game is the way we are going to play this one.
Yes, if Spurs go hot then they are capable of scoring for fun, but we can expect big Sam to make life hard for the home side and a match at Wembley the added incentive for the players.
Best Bet: UNDER 2.5 GOALS @2.25
