Manchester City v Newcastle United 17:30
The current Premier League champions – Man City – dropped two points away at Wolves last week and with Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs all winning then the title odds now look like this as we head into week four – Man City 1.66, Liverpool 3.50, Chelsea & Spurs 13.00.
City will, therefore, be hoping to get back on track this week with a home clash at Newcastle – a match they won 3-1 last season and a team the Manchester side took six points off last term.
The match betting has a pretty uninspiring feel to it with Man City as low as 1.10, the draw 9.00 and Newcastle as big as 21.00 – but there are other betting options in the game.
City are also 21 games unbeaten against Newcastle in the league – with the Toon Army last beating City in the league I 2005 – so it goes without saying we fully expect the home side to get all three points here.
There are generally a lot of City goals in this fixture too. They’ve netted at least three goals in all of the last six against Newcastle – 3+ City goals can be backed at 1.53.
With just one draw in the last 15 league head-to-heads then we are ruling a stalemate out too.
Sergio Aguero has been a thorn in the side for Newcastle in recent years too – the City hitman netted a hat-trick in this fixture last season and has scored a staggering 11 goals in the last six head-to-heads. He’s sure to be popular in the scoring markets again but is also likely to be poor value.
So, the call here is to delve into the Overs/Unders market. ALL of the last nine clashes have seen 3+ goals but at just 1.36 there not much gain here. However, if we add just one more goal (Over 3.5 goals) the price moves up to 1.83 and with this bet paying out in the last six clashes then history is on our side too.
BEST BET: OVER 3.5 GOALS @1.83
