Man City v Chelsea 16:00

Man City were in the League Cup Final last weekend so that gave a chance for Man Utd, Liverpool and Spurs to all close the gap on the league leaders after the trio all grabbed three points. Having said that, City are still very much in pole position to take the 2017/18 league title and it surely won’t be long before the bookmakers will start to pay out on any outright title bets.

City do face another potentially tough game here though as Chelsea make the trip up to Manchester and with the Blues losing to United last weekend – and other results going against them – that saw the Londoners fall out of the top four – they are now 2.37 (odds can change) to finish in the top four places.

So – What do the stats say?

When the teams played earlier in the season at Stamford Bridge that finished in a 0-1 away win for City, but Chelsea supports will have some hope that this repeat fixture last season finished Man City 1-3 Chelsea. The Londoners have also won two of their last three against City. If you fancy a repeat of last season’s 1-3 correct score that can be backed at a massive 41.00!

City have actually only won one of the last 4 repeat clashes so Chelsea have not always been an easy game for the multi-millionaire City players.

Will there be a lot of goals? In short – the recent stats suggest there will be. 83% (5 of the last 6) head-to-heads produced OVER 2.5 GOALS, so despite being odds-on at 1.65 there still looks to be some value here with 83% of bets paid out in the last 6 meetings between the sides.

Both teams to score has paid out in 5 of the last 8 head-to-heads, so not as frequent, therefore at 1.66 this doesn’t look great value.

Chelsea’s midfielder Eden Hazard has scored 3 goals in the last 3 head-to-heads so is certainly a player to have on your radar, especially as the pocket Belgium is also Chelsea’s top league scorer (11 goals) this season.

Looking at Man City’s potential scorers then they’ve scored goals all over the pitch this season, but it goes without saying Sergio Aguero, who has scored 17 times in the league this term, is their leading man.

Finally, it’s worth pointing out that we had 2 RED CARDS (both for City) in last season’s repeat fixture so there could be some boil over from that. However, with City having scored in all of their last 9 matches against Chelsea then despite their only average recent win record over the Blues we expect goals here.

It’s a match Chelsea need points from if they are get back in the ‘top four’ race, while as we’ve already mentioned when these teams meet the stats generally say there are goals – remember, 5 of the last 6 clashes (83%) went Over 2.5 goals.

Best Bet: OVER 2.5 GOALS @1.65
