Liverpool v Manchester City 16:30

The best of the ‘week eight’ fixtures have been saved for last as Premier League heavyweights – Liverpool and Man City – do battle at Anfield in what already looks to be a massive title deciding clash.

The sides come into this week of fixtures joint-top with 19 points but with this being the final of the 10 games there is a chance Chelsea, who sit in third (17 points), could be top if they beat Southampton away earlier on this Sunday.

City are still the clear favourites to win the league at 1.72, with Liverpool 3.00 – but those odds are expected to change a lot after this. A win for Liverpool and there is every chance we’ll see them nearer joint-favourites, while if City get all three points they will go heavy odds-on.

Last year’s repeat fixture was a humdinger too with Liverpool winning 4-3 – a repeat of that can be backed at 67.00!

The sides met four times in total last season as they also played twice in the Champions League – all four went OVER 2.5 GOALS, while 11 of the last 13 head-to-heads overall also saw 3+ goals. Add in that 5 of the last 6 repeat league clashes at Anfield also went OVER 2.5 GOALS then this bet is sure to be popular, even at 1.60.

Mo Salah has scored in the last three head-to-heads, so Liverpool’s striker is sure to be popular, while it goes without saying City’s Sergio Aguero will be their main man in front of goal.

However, the main thing to note ahead of this game is just how good a record Liverpool have over City – especially at home. The Merseysiders have lost just 1 of their last 10 vs City, plus unbeaten in their last 18 home games (all comps) vs the current league champions – not bad, hey?

Add in they’ve also won their last five home league games over City then the 2.37 on Liverpool taking all three points here in what looks a massive game is the call. For the more cautious then you might want to have the draw on side too in the ‘double chance’ market so cover Liverpool and the draw at 1.44.

BEST BET: LIVERPOOL TO WIN
