England v USA 20:00
England face USA on Thursday night in an International Friendly that many feel is a benefit match for former Three Lions captain Wayne Rooney.
The DC United player has been plying his trade in the States of late and has been coaxed out of retirement to earn his 120th cap, in what will surely be his final game for the England – we’ll see! If he scores a hat-trick then you never know!
The match betting suggests England will have no problem getting the win here as they are 1.25, with the Draw 5.50 and USA as big as 12.00.
If you fancy Rooney to cap off his inclusion in the squad with a goal you can back the former Man Utd player at 4.33 (1st goal) or 1.95 (anytime) – he’s been in decent scoring form for his club so that coupled with the occasion look fair prices.
England’s current top scorer (without Rooney), Harry Kane is the favourite at 3.40 (1st) and 1.66 (anytime), while USA’s Bobby Wood is their shortest-priced player at 17.00 (1st) or 6.50 (anytime).
The countries have met 10 times in the past, with England holding the clear advantage with 7 wins, 1 draw 2 USA wins, while the FIFA Rankings see England in 5th place and USA 23rd.
They last met in the 2010 World Cup and that ended in a 1-1 draw – if you fancy a repeat of that you’ll be rewarded at 11.00.
4 of the last 5 head-to-heads went UNDER 2.5 GOALS so this is another option to have on your radar at 2.00, while both teams ‘didn’t score’ in 7 of the last 10 – that is on offer at 1.50.
England have, however, scored in 8 of their last 9 vs USA so we can expect them to get on the scoresheet.
In summary, we should see a comfortable performance from the Three Lions but let’s go for a fairy-tale game with Rooney getting on the scoresheet at 1.95!
WAYNE ROONEY TO SCORE @1.95
