Chelsea v Liverpool 16:30
With just a few games to play then to some people this season’s Premier League has lost a bit of it’s sparkle as City have already won the title with games to spare. Okay, the champions are also trying to hit the 100 points mark but that’s hardly an exciting incentive for having a bet on City.
Yes, the relegation places are still not settled and the top four places are not totally sorted yet either, but even these two mini sub-plots have fairly obvious outcomes.
Having said that, when Chelsea play Liverpool then it’s always a game to savour – no matter what’s at stake and with the Blues, who are in fifth place, still in with a small chance of catching fourth place Spurs then this clash with Liverpool does at least have something riding on it.
What are the stats saying? The sides met earlier in the season at Anfield and that finished 1-1 – in fact, did you know 4 of the last 6 clashes also finished 1-1? Therefore, at 7.50 if you are thinking of having a wager in the correct score market this option has to be on the shortlist.
Liverpool have also won their last two away games at Stamford Bridge, while the Blues have won just one of their last 7 home league games against the Merseysiders – with Liverpool unbeaten in their last 6 against the Londoners. It is, however, worth noting that 5 of the last 8 head-to-heads ended in draws.
The match betting looks like this – Chelsea at 2.00, Liverpool at 3.50 and the Draw 3.60.
Can we expect goals? If recent head-to-heads are anything to go by fixtures between Chelsea and Liverpool don’t really produce many goals. 6 of the last 8 head-to-heads have gone Under 2.5 goals so with a 75% return it’s surprising to see Under 2.5 Goals on offer as the second favourite in this market at 2.07 – there certainly looks to be some value here.
In terms of scorers to look for then with 30 league goals it goes without saying Liverpool’s Mo Salah is a man to have on your radar while Chelsea’s Eden Hazard leads the way for the Blues with 12 league goals.
However, the safer option looks to be ‘Both Teams To Score’. This bet has rewarded punters in ALL of the last 6 head-to-heads, including the last three repeat fixtures. At 1.61 the rewards are less but that’s still not a bad return considering it’s had a 100% payout in the last six head-to-heads.
BEST BET: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @1.61
