FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023

It’s time for a basketball show! The FIBA Basketball World Cup starts in less than a month. Through thirty episodes, we will prepare ourselves for the exciting tournament ahead. Stay with us, we begin today.

“Night of Torches” or How It All Started #1

The first World Basketball Championship was held in 1950. Argentina was chosen as the host country due to its popularity in basketball and its neutral position during World War II, which was an important factor in the post-war world.

The championship was opened by Juan Perón, the then-president of the country. Argentina won the championship by defeating the United States with a score of 64:50, and after the victory, fans celebrated by burning newspapers. That night remained memorable as the “Night of Torches.” 🏀
